Technique and technology: a disruptive formation within the reformist paradigm

Resumen

El artículo aborda la relación histórica entre la retórica reformista que reconoce a la “universidad� como máxima institución del sistema educativo por un lado, y el circuito que educa para el trabajo en fábrica o industria por el otro, junto con el lugar que la técnica y la tecnología le disputaron a las disciplinas profesionalizantes (Medicina, Derecho, Arquitectura, Ingeniería, etc.).Por lo tanto, nos interesa presentar la relación entre el reformismo que replica el modelo universitario latinoamericano dominante versus otros modelos de educación superior orientados a la técnica y a los trabajadores: el Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) de México, la Universidad Obrera Argentina (UOA) y unas breves referencias a los debates parlamentarios sobre la creación de la Universidad Obrera Nacional.

Abstract

The article addresses the historical relationship between the reformist rhetoric that recognizes the “university� as the maximum institution of the educational system on the one hand, and the circuit that educates for work in the factory or industry on the other, together with the place that the technique and the technology disputed the professional disciplines (Medicine, Law, Architecture, Engineering, etc.). Therefore, we are interested in presenting the relationship between reformism that replicates the dominant Latin American university model, versus other models of higher education oriented to technology and workers: the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) of Mexico, the Universidad Obrera Argentina (UOA) and some brief references to the parliamentary debates about the creation of the Universidad ObreraNacional (UON).
